CLiFF Ottawa FAQ's

1) What's the admission price?

Admission is FREE. Free? Are you sure? Yes, we're sure. Together with our sponsors, our goal is for you to have an enjoyable afternoon learning about different types of workers.

2) Are there advance tickets?

Tickets will be at the door only the day of the event - doors open at 11:45 am each day with the films for the day starting at 12:30 pm sharp.

4) Is there parking available?

Public Transit (recommended)

Library and Archives Canada (LAC) is within walking distance of bus stops for both the City of Ottawa's OC Transpo (www.octranspo.com/Main_MenuE.asp) and the City of Gatineau's STO (www.sto.ca/index_e.asp).

With OC Transpo, you can take any bus traveling on Wellington, Albert, Slater, Queen and Bank streets in Ottawa.

Parking

  • As there are a limited number of parking spaces in the parking lot located on the west side of the LAC main building, there is a maximum time of 240 consecutive minutes allowed during opening hours per day.
  • There are two handicapped parking spaces for permit holders in the parking lot located on the east side of the building.
  • There are also a number of public parking lots and some metered street parking nearby.
Since the Festival is being held on the weekend - the World Exchange Plaza (Queen and O'Connor) has free parking and then it's just a short walk to the Festival.

5) Is it an accessible friendly location?

Building

  • Access ramp in the front
  • Automatic door openers in all areas open to the public
  • Two elevators providing access to all areas open to the public
  • Evacuation chairs which are designed for people with disabilities and allow them, with the help of staff, to use the stairs in an emergency
  • Wheelchair accessible pay phones on the ground, second and third floors
  • Accessible public washrooms for people with disabilities

Parking

In the parking lot located on the east side of the building, two parking spots are reserved for cars displaying a handicapped parking permit.

6) Will usual movie snacks be available?

Snacks are not allowed in the theatre unfortunately. The DCF with our sponsors will be providing a complimentary beverage available during the intermission period.


7) How do I get involved?

We need volunteers to help us admit the 386 Festival goers and then again to help with intermission each day. Volunteers are guaranteed entrance to the Festival. If you can spare some time please send us an email at ottawa at labourfilms.ca.

8) Can I make a donation?

Donations to the Foundation are always welcome. The Douglas-Coldwell Foundation is a charitable foundation and tax receipts will be issued at the beginning of the year. Donations can be submitted to us online

9) Who is this hosted by again?

It is hosted by the Douglas-Coldwell Foundation named after it's Founding President Tommy Douglas and M.J. Coldwell. The Foundation promotes education and research in social democracy. Pass on the word about the scholarships and grants the Foundation provides.
